My name is Rebecca Weiss, and I am a life long dabbler.
I graduated with an MFA in Theatre Arts in 2007. I thought my life had a clear path, but fear and self doubt kept me from pursuing it.
After bouncing around a bit, I landed a teaching job in Colorado. My students would constantly tell me how hard it was to do theatre! I couldn’t believe it!
“I’m not an actor.”
“I’m not an artist”
“I’m not creative.”
“I’m not good enough.”
All I could do was tell them, “Yes, you are! You just don’t know it yet!”
How could I tell my students that creativity was a skill that you learned, when I didn’t live that way? I needed to overcome my fear and put my work out there.
I started bullet journaling in 2016 to help me organize all my creative hobbies and projects. Soon my bujo developed into a consistent art practice.
That practice, combined with the incredibly supportive bullet journal community, gave me the confidence try new things! I listened to the voice that said, “you aren’t good enough,” and I did it anyway.
Creativity brings joy. Creativity solves problems. You can find it in the meals you cook, the way you avoid morning traffic, even your signature.
