This is a story about never sitting still…
Some of you may have noticed that I suddenly have a podcast taking up valuable real estate on my blog page. What the crap is that about?
Well… the long and short of it is… I wanted to do a thing, so I did it. Like every other hobby I’ve ever taken up (knitting, paper crafts, painting, digital art), I’m jumping in and running with this new obsession. This thing has taken up hours of my time… from the giggle-filled hours recording with my long distance bestie to the brutal hours trying to learn new skills (any audio engineers reading this? I’ll split the profits with you… but 50% of $0 is still $0).
What does this have to do with crafting?
Maybe nothing. Maybe everything.
This blog, Edelweiss Crafts, came about from a need to be creative. I want to pursue and nourish my creative mind… and there are so many ways to do that.
Podcasting requires a ton of creativity. When you listen to an episode of a professional podcast, it sounds effortless and beautiful. New England is Haunted does not sound effortless… and it really isn’t. I have to cut, move, filter and equalize to get it to sound like anything. Yes, it takes creativity. It is definitely flexing those brain muscles in new and exciting ways.
The most important thing is learning. I am learning new things through this journey. New things about ghosts in New England, for sure. New things about my friendship with Alli, my inimitable co-host. New things about sound and decibels and hertz. New things about my capabilities.
What does this mean for the blog?
New England is Haunted
NEIH will continue to be hosted on the blog until one of the following happens –
- We get popular enough to be sponsored
- One or both of us decide to spend the money on moving it to its own website
- We get bored or too busy and give up on the thing all together (it’s called podfading and it makes me sad to think about).
Crafting & Creativity Posts
I will probably be paying a bit more attention to the blog now that I have a reason to post once a week.
I have a list of tutorials (including fun ones with my new Cricut Maker) that I want to write up. I just haven’t been doing it… but the ideas are there. If you aren’t interested in the podcast but you like the blog, it isn’t going anywhere.
A few projects to look for in the near future:
- Tutorials for Cricut crafts in your bullet journal
- Graphic portrait tutorials for Procreate
- A 7 day email creativity boost workshop!
I’m really excited to continue building this blog! I’m also really excited to share my love of all things spooky and goofy on New England is Haunted.
